Wellbeing Counselling

Wellbeing Counselling for Children, Teens & Young Adults

Individual counselling for children, teens, and young adults ages 6 to 21 who are experiencing emotional, social, behavioural, or everyday life challenges.

Growing up can bring many challenges. Children and young people may experience worry, stress, changes in mood, difficulties with confidence, school pressures, friendship problems, family conflict, or challenging life experiences. Wellbeing counselling provides a supportive, non-judgmental space where young people can talk openly, better understand their emotions, and develop practical skills to manage challenges more effectively.

At Core Centre Psychological Services, counselling is tailored to each individual's needs, strengths, circumstances, and goals. Our approach focuses on helping children and young people develop greater self-awareness, confidence, emotional regulation, coping skills, and problem-solving strategies.

How Wellbeing Counselling Works

Wellbeing counselling typically includes 6 to 8 individual sessions, with each session lasting approximately 60 minutes. Sessions are personalized according to the young person's needs and the goals identified at the beginning of counselling.

Counselling can be provided in person at our Mississauga clinic or online, offering families flexibility when choosing the format that works best for them.

Depending on the child's or young person's age and circumstances, parents may participate in part or all of a session. Parents can receive guidance, feedback, and practical strategies to help support their child's emotional well-being and reinforce positive skills at home.

A Supportive Approach for Young People

Every child and young person responds differently to challenges. Our counsellors take the time to understand each individual's experiences and provide age-appropriate support in a safe and respectful environment.

The goal of wellbeing counselling is not simply to address a particular concern, but to help young people build the understanding and skills they can use beyond counselling. By learning how to recognize emotions, manage stress, communicate more effectively, solve problems, and respond to difficult situations, children and young adults can develop greater confidence and resilience.

If your child, teen, or young adult is struggling with emotional or everyday life challenges, Core Centre can provide the professional support and guidance they need to move forward.
