Autism (ASD)

Our goal at the Core Centre is to provide a variety of opportunities to assist parents with a solid knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Autism Consultation Services: Individual and Group Sessions

Raising a child with ASD presents a unique experience that requires specialized knowledge and training to ensure you are prepared for the many variables in their lives. Autism consultation services have been designed to meet the diverse needs of children with autism and to support families navigating the recent changes to Ontario Autism Program. At the Core Centre, we offer 1:1 and group meetings for parents and caregivers.

Psychoeducational Assessment

If your child is having difficulties with social interaction, communication, behaviors and/or sensory sensitivities our registered school psychologist can conduct a psychoeducational assessment. This assessment can reveal your child’s hidden strengths and help your child succeed! The psychoeducational assessment is needed for the Individual Education Plan development and includes recommendations for programs and services.

IdealMe: Social Skills Development

IdealMe: Social Skills Development offers small group sessions (max.2-4 participants) for children 8 to 12 years old and youth 13 to18 years old. The crucial part of the program involves training for parents so that they can feel confident to carry it on at home or out in the community.

Goals: advancing verbal communication, reducing behaviour problems, creating richer social interactions, and helping children be successful in the classroom and day-to-day life. We engage your child in play, mindfulness and yoga activities combined with Art Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).
